Update description with ppadmtool

Hi,

I try to update a cube description by using ppadmtool and get the following error:

Message file read error, message id is 1102.

Which Cube description do you want to update ??


Connect with PPADMTOOL to your server
In the root folder you have the Sample Cube

>SET Sample_Cube Description="Edouard"

Then the Description of this cube is updated in PowerPlay Enterprise. Meaning that if you open the PowerPlay Enterprise Administration ( windows ) you ll see the Edouard in the Description of the cube.

But I guess you ll like to update the cube description to be displayed in the Explain function of PPES , isn't it ??

If you want to automate the update of the description of the NewsItem in UpFront.

you can try in Internet Explorer .
Open UpFront.
Open the Properties of a cube link
Advanced Properties
Copy the NewsItem ID
Close and back to UpFront
type in the URL :

http://yourservername/cognos/cgi-bi...311d49cabee420920ba5a</Id><Description>Annual

Stock Report</Description></SetNewsItemProperties>

Then the cube description in UpFront will Contain &quot;Annual Stock Report&quot;

You can use the UpfrontCmd.exe to send xml command to upfront.
