I did read all available threads on up-grades and don't mean to beat a dead horse. Am doing an up-grade because of "on-going PRI problems". (Will be changing NVRAM to release 2). Simply, to retain programming can I go from 4.1 to 6.1 "without the up-grade tool"?
Thanks for all replies,

First, swap the R1 cartridge for the R2 cartridge with the R4.1 software inserted. After the system has fully booted up, then power off and swap the R4.1 for the R6.1. You will now be at R6.1 with all programming intact (assuming the memory cap is good on the motherboard of the MICS). No upgrade tool is required. I'd strongly suggest backing up your system before upgrading and after every reboot.
