Hello all! Im under Windows 2000 server and I have a Question.

There is a department that gives technical support to students here where I work. This ppl install applications to all the computers in there department using the Local Administrator User on those Windows 2000 computers. Instead on adding a new computer to my domain they set it as Workgroup and I dont want that workgroup created. Is there a way in Windows 2000 server to prevent or delete this workgroup? I want them to add that computer to my domain not to the default WORKGROUP.

Any Ideas?

Just join the computer to your domain.

Right click on My Computer. Choose Properties from the list. That will bring up System Properties. Under the Network Identification tab you will see a button named Properties. In the member of area enter your domains name. Then hit OK. You will be prompted for the name and the password of a user who has the right to join a computer to the domain. After you have supplied that information you will see a message welcoming you to the new domain, then you will be prompted to reboot.

More details? This is not your computer they are adding? It belongs to the other department? Who is in charge of the network? Go to the head of IT, and explain the problem. If you are in charge, then do like trusted suggests and add it to your domain. Good luck.
