Unwanted Windows Server 2003 boot-up menu 1

When my Win2K3 Standard server boots up, it presents a menu titled "Please select the operating system to start", with two identical choices of Windows 2003 Standard Server. I choose the first one and Windows comes up normally.

How can I get rid of this dialog? I'm pretty sure it was caused because I installed Windows half way and then restarted the installation in a different partition. The partition is long gone but the menu dialog remains.

Take a look in the boot.ini file you should see them both listed there.

porkchopexpress is right. You'll have to comment out, or delete, the line that has the operating system option you DO NOT want to see. If there is more than one OS option, you will be prompted to select an OS to boot. I'm assuming you either attempted a re-install or upgrade and didn't finish the process?

Thanks for the guidance - that worked. For anyone wanting to know the process for Windows 2003 server:

1. In Windows: Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
2. On the Advanced tab, in the Startup and recovery section, click Settings
3. To edit the boot.ini file directly, click the EDIT button.
4. Remove the line for the operating system you DON'T want.

When the system is subsequently restarted, it will not have a boot-up menu.
