An end user received an email today w/three attachments now when he sends out an email, one of the attachments is being linked to new, reply and forward emails when using Outlook 2000 w/Exchange Server 5.5. There are no indications of a virus in that Norton is up to date and there is nothing in the virus log.

I disabled the Auto Text because it saw the attachment, restarted the computer and still nothing, this attachment will not go away!

Any suggestions?

Thank you....

Hello NPT,

Most anti-virus vendors let you email them suspected viruses for identification. It is sometimes how they find new ones.

Does Norton allow this? If not hunting around the F-Secure site, or Panda or Sophos will let you find a place to email a suspect.

If the mal-ware is attaching to all outward bound mail at least it is easy to send a copy of the 'bug'.

As you probably know once it is identified removal is usually not difficult.

If convenient, please let us know what it was.

J
