i had previously upgraded some t7406 sets to the 'e'version on a mics 5.1. i was so pleased with the extended range i deceided to add a unit at my other office with a compact cabnet. this install isnt going well with the programming. despite setting the set for 2 i/c i can only get in to display 1. same if i set it to 3 i can only see 2. if you program lines to 'just ring' the handset rings and lights up but no indicator button lights up. if u use group pick up to answer a line and put it on hold there is no indicator to get back to the line despite the line displaying hold on other 7310 sets. the port sez it is a 7310 set in maintenance. iv tried turning hands free on and off. it is like there is another button on the bottom right i cant see. these problems did not occur on the 5.1 install. suggestions?

thanx

this is a compact ics with software version 30NEG15 NAT

Looks like you have CICS R4.1. I am guessing you might have T7316 telephones, not T7316E. Do you have 3 buttons below the dial pad (T7316E), or only 2 (T7316)? Dial F*0 then press the 3 lower right buttons one at a time and the display will tell you what is programmed to each button. If the bottom right button says "Handsfree/mute" then you have T7316 telephones and this would explain the problems you're having.

Set handsfree to yes, that will move the intercom buttons up.

just a side note, when in doubt RTFM. (read the frigging manual)

thanx for your replies!

these sets are the 'new' t7406 'e' sets.there are 6 line indicator buttons on the set. i have tried turning the hands free on and off in programming. when handsfree is on and using f*0 and pressing the bottom right button it displays the intercom dn. it does not display 'hands free'. it does not move the buttons 'up'. i have two handsets and both repsond in the same fashion as stated in the original post. also as stated in the original post, i installed these phones on a 0x32 and did not have these programming issues. thanx!

it won't display handsfree, it will just move your intercoms up. The button mapping is based on a m7310, line 1,2 and three on the left and then the three middle buttons on the right, buttons 7,8, and 9.

just a side note, when in doubt RTFM. (read the frigging manual)

I should quit answering questions late at night! For some reason I was seeing T7316.

As was previously written, the buttons map to an M7310, the top 3 buttons on the left and the middle 3 buttons on the right. Temporarily plug in a M7310 to the port being used for the T7406, map the buttons as above, program a Handsfree button to push the intercoms up, then plug the T7406 back.

i had considered that brian...but the transmitter is wired for a rj45 plug not a rj11. i have tried operating the set with both the 'handfree' option on and off with the same results. as i previously stated there are two handsets and both are operating the same way.

Still sounds like handsfree issue.

To be sure your doing correctly:
-Do Feature * 0 Intercom to make sure your programming the right DN
-Assign 2 Intercom keys
-Set hansdfree to = Y in capabilties

-Do feature * 0 to the 2 bottom right keys and note what they are according to the display.

Brian was right in his earlier response, though. A t7316e's handsfree button will not appear on the LCD buttons with version 6.1 or higher sw. Can be a little misleading for the 7406's.

I usually connect a 7310 to the port and program accordingly before plugging it into the 7406/e. (make sure set relo is OFF.)

As you mentioned, you'll probably have to temporarily wire a jack off the station block to do this, or jury rig a jack/basecord assembly off the rj45.

happy to report this issue is resolved!

just to let everyone know the handsfree option had to be set to 'standanrd'. not auto and not off.

this seemed to surprise even the disbributor. thanx for everyones input. have a great holiday!
