Unrestricted shares?

How do I make a share that does not require a password? I have trouble with my smbpasswd command not making changes to my passwd file, and therefore none of my computers can connect to my shares. Has anyone got any ideas?

if your samba server is in 'share' mode, you can create a share that you can allow guest to access.

PS. smbpasswd only changes the smbpasswd file, not /etc/passwd
