Unresolved external IID_IDDirectDraw7

Hi,
I am new to directX, but when ever i try to create a directdraw7 object with either directdrawcreatex(), or queryinterface, I get the error Unresolved external IID_IDDirectDraw7; for some reason it doesn't know what the
IID_IDDirectDraw7 is. can anyone give me a clue as to what i'm doing wrong. I'm using dirextX 8.1
