When I reset/unplug a phone registered to one of my subs, i don't see an error message in the app logs. I checked for filters and all.

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!

you should see it in the system event logs not app logs

You can also use the RTMT to check which of the registered phones are connected and which are disconnected.

Device Monitoring

The Device monitoring category provides a summary of devices and device search capability. The device summary monitors registered phone, gateway, and media resource devices on a particular Cisco CallManager and an entire cluster. The device search category allows you to search for every device in a Cisco CallManager cluster on the basis of the search criteria that you set up.

You can also check here event logs.

Caos is the natural order of things...

Thanks for your input, but that still doesn't answer my questions. Also when the phones unregistered they errors come on the app logs not the system logs.

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!

I thought your question was "why don't I see the phone unregister in the apps log".
Are you saying now that you see it in the apps log and want to know why? Or are you saying that the log should appear in both the apps and event logs?
If the latter I have never seen that and I would like to see a link that documents that.
Please be precise with your question.

I was answering the statement from whykap. No I'm still having the same issue. When the phones unregistered from CM I don't see it on my app logs. Running CM 4.1.3 win2k. Sorry for the confusion.

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!

Wavesg, once again you will not see the phones unregistering in the apps log. it is in the system event log that shows it.
A phone registering and unregistering has nothing to do with any application running on the server, therefore it will not show up in the apps log.
Not sure what part of that answer you do not get.

Got ya. So you are saying that if you unplug a phone, leave it unplugged and check the logs there is nothing there.

It sounds like an OS issue. Make sure you are at the latest OS Patch. If I were you I would open a TAC case, never run into this unfortunately (or fortunately in my case).

I had something like this happen before on a 4.1.3 box, I upgraded to a new service pack to fix another bug and it fixed that for awhile until they patched that patch with a version "b" and it broke it again... go figure =)

I have also opened several tickets with TAC and no one can give me an answer or assist in fixing it... Kinda followed the link in the above link to the bug report and they still haven't posted a fix... oh well, reset's usually occur at night and if they do happen during the day the end users barely notice if they notice at all...

DallasBPF thanks for your input on this. I found a work around, but you're right this is strange.

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!
