unreadable WORD document 3

I need help to revocer documents created in WORD 2000, now when I open them all I got is a bunch of ascii character for average of 5 lines , a line of ------------saut de pages -------- and others ascii characteres...

That make me think thats the same "shape" when we open a PDF in word or vice versa...or JPG with the wrong prog...?

Thanks to help getting my docs back in W2000 shape.

Those files seems to be corrupted. Did you check their extension? Are they showing 'Word' icon in explorer? Have you tried it to open using File -> Open?

Yes it is showing word icon, i tried to open with wordpad, notepad, adobe ,,,etc,,,

I also tried to change extension in pdf and word perfect...

How just a folder with about 50 docs can be corrupted ? All my others doc. in others fodleers are ok!!! :-(

Does a virus can corrupt that kind ? no virus or spyware present according to norton , ad-aware...etc...

In Word, when you go to File, Open dialog box, under Files of Type: there is an option called Recover Text from any file. Try that one and see if it works.

What are the file extension names? You can get this by right-click and 'properties'.

Several different extension names can have the same icon and default to the same software for opening.

Madawc Williams (East Anglia, UK). Using Windows XP & Crystal 10

xlhelp, no luck ...documents is still opening with strange ascii text...( I tried all the choice ...no luck either)

and for Madawc the extension is .doc and file type "microsoft word document"

Can we join a file or jpg to our reply in that forum ? if yes how ? it will give you a good idea of my problem...

I tried the lasts suggestions this week end, but no luck; all I can see is after the html tricks; it is seems to describe my devices ... pci , driver, and other tech words of computer ( not a poem like originally ) .

I think i am going to drop this case... thanks to all again.
