Unmount Tapes while Device Group is in use?

Hi All -
Using Arcserve 2k.SP4, (new install & server, -thanks to those that helped), connected to a 48 slot ADIC tape library. I have a 14 hour full backup going, and I would like to move tapes from one device group to another for merging.

Whenever I try to export the tapes in the device group, I get a &quot;Device <4> Export Failed. GROUP ALREADY OPEN&quot;.

I don't want to wait until the job is done, nor do I want to stop the job. Do I have any solution to export the tapes?

This is by design...
The device is locked..
You have to wait for it to finish..
Note: The catalogue files will get merged automatically into the Databse after the job completes.

I agree, that's how it works. Even I had this same problem I called CA support get this resolved….
