unknown user

I have a really stupid question but impossible to solve the problem..alone.
Since I tried to get some options in my Microsoft outlook 2000 I cannot send anymore messages to people who are not in my contact list. I have the reply "Unknown user" "undeliverable" etc.
So I cleared the option "check names" but no change.
What am supposed to do ?

You haven't really given enough information to go on, but seem to suspect the nickname cache as the problem. If you're right, try the utility shown here

Thanks smah but impossible to solve this problem. Now each time I send a message to for example "robert@hotmail.com" I have the reply:
Postmaster: undeliverable mail
" Unknown user: robert-@hotmail.com"
with as you can see a - between robert and @hotmail.com...
