Hi, we are converting servers from a SCO unix platform to a Win2k Adv. server platform, and are running into a couple of issues.
First, we need to convert how we print. In unix, we just have a program in our DBMS that executes a system command (lp -d <printername> -o landscape etc) and that would submit a print request to the spooler queue to print this file. Now, in windows I can not seem to see how to do this. I know there is the spoolsv.exe service, but I can not see how I would call into it, or even if I should. I know that I can do a "net use" or "print" command, but those do not seem to give all the functionality that we require.
We need to be able to pass values for number of copies, portrait or landscape, size of font (i.e. cpi 8, etc) and destination.
Secondly, We are looking at doing transfers to the server via zmodem. If a user is logged into the server and they edit locally on their machine, we somehow need to get the data passed into the server. Before, we used zmodem protocol, but I am not sure if we can just have hyperterminal up and running to take care of that or what. I tried a couple different things, but could not see a way to do it directly.
Any help in any way would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!![[afro2] [afro2] [afro2]](/data/assets/smilies/afro2.gif)
