Is it possible to apply a sort at an object level in the universe so that when a report uses that object, a custom sort will be applied at the universe level? I know that it can be done at the report level, but I will have to modify 150 report if it can not done at a universe level. Let me know if any of you have any ideas.

Thanks
B

You cannot apply sorts at the universe level. You can apply them at the query level, but they aren't terribly useful from a reporting perspective. They are helpful for exporting data in sorted order.

Reports always sort left to right unless you add manual sorts. Steve Krandel

From a database/SQL point of view , be aware that adding sorts can cripple reasonably fast SQL statements to almost standstill performance. You might want to test some of your SQL scripts from Business Objects documents using a specialized SQL tool (like TOAD for ORACLE or Quest Central for DB2 ) and get some idea how sorting will affect performance. Steve's remark on pre-sorting is spot-on, it is not really the way to go.... T. Blom
