I came in this morning to complaints that our backdoor number was not working. By not working they ment that when you dial the number once in a while the caller hears dead air followed by a disconnect. After some basic troubleshooting I have it narrowed down to one card in the switch. I replaced the card with a know working one and same issue. Tested on vendor side and all is working okay. I this a backplane issue?

Moved trunks from card to spare ports on other cards and seem to work fine. I assume the backplane is the problem?????

okay this is weird. it seems to be hit and miss now. I attach a butt set on a number at the end of the hunt group and dial the number. My butt set rings once and the AA picks up. I hang up and dial back in on the same number and it doesn't even ring in, just dead air and disconnects.

Do you have SUPN set to yes? THis may be a supervision issue, where the trunks are not releasing immediately

The trunks are not set to SUPN, however they have been in place without any changes to them in years. This issue just started today. Also when I stat the trunk as I am calling in it shows idle. It almost like a ring trip without the ring.

Is usage on the numbers increasing recently? It may have just become noticable, or at least annoying enough for someone to report it. Can't hurt to try SUPN to yes on one channel, easy enough to change back if it does not help.

are these loop start trunks? and have you checked the swtich settings on the trunk cards..

are you the last site to use anaolog trunks? because of the price of t1's.. i haven't seen a working analog trunk is 6 maybe 8 years

No they are groud start. They are a group of analog trunks that we had left over years ago that I use to have our outside reps call in on instead of using the PRIs. We do have 9 PRIs for our day to day business.
