I'v set up a union query which works on a local table as well as a linked table in another Access DB. The number of records in the local is about 500,000 while the linked table contains about 1,100,000 records...the performance is horrible! I'm looking for some good tips on how to speed this thing up and make it more efficient (I must be pushing the limits of Access).

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

What is the expected number of rows returned ?
I'd double check the index.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks for your response. The expected number of records, depending on the situation for which the query is being run, could range anywhere from 2 to 1,500 records.

Yes, I believe I have indexed all of the fields that should be indexed. Also, I am using this over a rather large network.
