is there a way to uninstall the active directory on an Win2000 server ?

ie. if we need to setup a test AD domain then have the same server to initiate/join another AD domain, is this possible ?

Thanks

Just run DCPROMO again to remove.

I'm not an expert, but I know that AD is undoable. I also know from trial-by-fire that when you undo AD, you lose all of your user/group configurations and I think you have to revisit all your shares. I don't know if there's a MS or 3rd party utility for preserving such things so that you don't have to redo them all, or exporting AD users/groups and importing them into non-AD users/groups.

If he's just removing AD from a test server in order to bring it into a production environment, then he's not concerned with any test user/groups from the server.

I did not make any assumptions as to exactly what jcck2003 is and is not testing. I just offered up a piece of information that I had to learn the hard way, a potential consequence of performing what he might be about to perform. Thank you for telling me what he/she's not concerned with, and accept my apologies for broadening the scope of the issue slightly.
