Aloha!
I would like to remove service pack 2 in its entirety. However, when I go to Control Panel, Settings, remove software, there is no listing of windows programs/updates/hotfixes to uninstall/remove. How can I get rid of everything on service pack 2? Am I relegated to a line-by-line search and destroy mission or is there a better way? I'd like to be able to do a clean reinstall of the sp after that. I'm purely a one-man, one laptop operation, obviously pretty new to the W2000 environment. Thanks in advance for your help!

Mahalo,
Rick

Sounds like when SP2 was installed the option to backup for future remova was unchecked. I am unsure of anyother way tahn formatting and reinstalling. Line by line search in the registry will not get it. But thats it unless someone else has come up with a way. James Collins

You can do a system file check with the delete cache option. This will delete the cache of SP files and then you could reinstall.

Open a Command Prompt and type....

SFC /PURGECACHE

This will also scan all the system files immediately too. New Zealand, a great place to live.

Thanks for all of the help. SFC /PURGECACHE is a good trick.
