Uninstalling exchange from a member server

I am recieving the fallowing error trying to uninstall exchange from a windows 2000 member server:

"Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for the component "Microsoft Exchange 2000":0xC0070548(1355):The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."

I checked communication between both the server and the member server and they are both communicating.

I dont understand why this is happenning. Can someone please help?

How do I point the ms dns to my dc dns. From where do I do this?
