Does nayone know the proper procedure to uninstall Windows Media Player in Vista Ultimate?

I don't think you can as it is part and parcel of Vista. Mind you the European Countries stopped Microsoft from installing it in the first place.

What is the main reason for you wanting to get rid of it, maybe someone can help you with an alternate solution?

I purchased Nero 8 concidering my previous version will not work with Vista (Thanks Microthief) and I clicked twice instead of once when asked for associations. Now my XM stream doesn't play anymore. I thought if I uninstalled it an dre-installed it it would re-associate the extensions again. I do not want to reinstall Nero concidering it caused me great pains getting it to install in the first place. App. 40 minutes.... I have gone through and associated every known audio stream extension to media player and it still will not play.

Thanks.

I must say at this point in time Vista was a 265.00 mistake. Please Microsoft make me like your product again!!!!

Have you tried the reverse, by unassociating them from Nero?

What file type is the "XM stream"?

What is your Default Player?

.asx

I have tried that and it just dosen't work. Vista is going to take some time to get right. I'm still dealing with constant messages about my license service stopping and ecashe.sys blue screens!

This is worse than XP was....

Simply right-click on some .asx file & choose 'Open With...', pick Windows Media Player, & check the 'Always use the selcted program....' option.

license service stopping and ecashe.sys blue screens!"

Start a new thread about that, but give a few more details in it so people know what you are referring to.

I will as soon as I exhaust my efforts to resolve it. If I do I will post it.

Thanks.
