I installed directx 8 because a game required it but my video card (rage lt pro) will not support it. It installed fine without any errors but when I ran the diag tool dx 7 ran fine but dx 8 errored out. I found out from Microsoft that the video card will support dx 7 but not dx 8. I haven't been able to figure out how to get dx 7 installed because I can't uninstall dx 8. It is not listed in the add/remove programs, can not find an uninstall program, have even tried to remove the programs files and the registery entries. No luck, probably could not find all the files. I can not find a driver update for my video card. Looked on ATI site too.

uninstall dx8

DX8 cannot be uninstalled since its makes itself part of the OS upon installation. It effectively becomes a system component. Sorry dude. Your latter suggestion is probably the best, which is to find drivers for your card. But then again, if your card does not support DX8, then I think it's time you get an upgrade. Peace out.
