I know I am not the first to post this problem but I have tried every possible recovery method I know of, and I'm hoping for a new suggestion.
When attempting to open a database, I get the error "the database is in an unexpected state... converted from a prior version of Access using DAO compact database.."
I have tried importing the tables into a new database. No dice, cannot open the corrupted database file to access the tables.
I tried using Jetcomp.exe. It's able to compact the database but I still cannot get in.
Next came decompiling at the command line.. I receive an error that I don't have permissions to access the object, yet it is not password protected and I've always had permissions to open it.
Then I tried following faq181-1005.. importing the tables into Excel. When I get to the screen that displays the tables, the only table listed is MSysCompactError. I imported it anyway, and every entry in the table says "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'tablename' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you." where 'tablename' is an individual table in the database. There is a line for every single table in the database.
I'm all tapped out.. does anyone have a magic fix for me?
