Unexpected constant #140 -1 Error

Hi all,

I've just started getting an error on a site but have no idea what is causing it.

unexpected constant #140 -1

Now, the strange thing about this error is that only this one site is affected, and none of the others are.

The error still appears no matter whether the file is blank or contains code.

No Application.cfm is in or above this dir.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I've got a few ideas for you:

(...cold fusion files larger than 500k recieve a similar error... The page this refers too says his page is only 337 but that is still rather larger, might, for the sake of argument, consider breaking up into cfincludes and such, if possible..)

Also, is your template encrypted? Might it contain the character: ΠWhich is Œ (If you don't see the code for the symbol and just see the symbol, its amperstand-a-m-p-pound sign-1-4-0-semicolon)

Hi mate,

Thanks, but this is different from the error I am getting.

No matter what size the file is, the error returns.

The file was about 5k, with code that has not been altered for about a year, and it worked fine up until now.

At this present moment in time, the file contains nothing and still errors out.

I can't think of any system changes recently that could have affected this either.

Follow up

I narrowed down the problem to a cfif, but still have no idea why it happened.

A restart of the server never sorted anything, but going into the Admin and unchecking Save Class Files removed the error for the blank page.

The part that was causing the error was the following line inside a cfif:

Send an e-mail to santa and get a personal reply.

If I delete that line, it works without a problem. But the strange thing is that this line of text is repeated directly before and after the line causing the problem, but the file works with those left in.

This has totally stumped me.
