Understanding dialing plan for fordwarding messages

I having a little problem with fordwarding messages or sending messages that I do not understand hoe it works or where to look for it in the Octel configuration.

The situation is this:

A user calls his voicemail and chooses the option to send a message, he records the message and then chooses the destination. He preses 274 plus the mailbox. He says 274 means the city where the user that he wants to send the message is.

So I have been trying to see where this configuration is in the Octel or how does this work.

Can anyone explain it to me?
 
What type of OCTEL do you have?

The "274" is the prefix or destination dialing code for a given city. After the prefix the wanted mailbox is entered.

It is like dialing 9 to get a public line or dial 0 for the operator.

I belive is a 200 but I'm not sure, is there a way to get that info in the configuration?
 
when I put the instruction .l num (list numbering-plan) I saw the destinations of each city.

Now that I know that the Octel has this numbering plan, how does the Octel route to the message to each city?

I don't think it does it by LAN connection because I do no see any LAN connection to the Octel.
 
What version are you running on the Octel 200? Do you use OctelNet between your sites to connect the voice mail systems?
 
I belive the version is S.4.1.0-2 and I do not know if I'm using OctelNet, how do I find out how are this sites connected?
 
OCTEL net requires a license, so we can see it from the @l f.

Looks like destination 274 is Albuquerque which has a 7 digit transport that strips the initial digits then sends to a 4 digit mailbox.

Can you confirm the 4-digit mailbox on the remote system exists?
 
does the remote mailbox have to exist in my local Octel?

Know how does this communication work? Does it call the other mailbox?

The reason I'm asking this is because the Octel mailbox is going to be reaplaced by a CallPilot 600r, I what to know how this communications work and see if I can do the same thing with the CallPilot.
 
No, it is a routing method to send to a networked machine.

Think of it this way:
The 274 identifies the remote system. The mailbox numbers can be the same on all machines but when sending messages the routing number makes it a unique identifier of what machine it goes to.

When the message arrives at the networked machine it is intended for then it strips the first three digits and sends the message to the mailbox on that machine.

I am not familiar with CallPilot but you would need a network method between destinations to continue to transport messages in your voice mail stategy.
 
So I'm guessing that when you say ntwork method you don't mean IP, it could be a dialing plan between sites.
