uncluster domain controllers?

We have 2 domain controllers that were clustered together before I arrived at this company. Are there any proper steps to uncluster this equipment without the network having a ginat hiccup? From what I have been told (this is my first week here) When the clustering was done, problems were appearing on the network. Has anyone heard of this before?

Are they only domain controllers, or are they also running other services like SQL, exchange, etc?
Is this an NT cluster, 2000, 2003?

I was asked to setup a cluster on 2 domain controllers before. AD is not a "cluster aware" application, but other things on the DC's might be... DHCP and WINS can both be set up on a cluster to saver their databases to shared disk. If you have removed all other services except the DC functionality, you should be able to decommission the cluster. Just make sure that the AD database wasn't placed on shared disk.
