I have a Windows XP Home edition pc that will not allow me to view Advanced system information (error log & running services). I get a message on the screen that says "No such interface supported". I did have to remove Norton AV as it was causing errors.

Anybody else run into this problem? Any solutions?

Thanks

At a guess "No such interface supported" may indicate corruption of the Registry.

This may only be fixable by a clean install of XP as any repair install might only copy the corruption.

Reinstalling Help and Support Center in Windows XP

Do you have any backups?

System Restore might work.

A Registry Cleaner might pick something up?

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

This is a layman's version of Q307545 in simple language.

Can you access similar information via typing compmgmt.msc in Start Run?

When I received the computer I had to run chkdsk /r to get it to start. The person didn't know why it wouldn't start. I bet that the registry is toast and am going to do a reinstall. I tried to reinstall help and support seperately but, no luck.

Thanks for the help!
