hi experts,

This is 10g on a Windows server.

I'm trying to schedule a db backup thru the Database Control's Maintenance options (the web-based tool).

The 'Schedule Backup' and 'Backup Settings' requires you to specify a login - even though I'm already connected to that instance as user SYS as SYSDBA.

Regardless of which login I enter, it says "Wrong password for user" I even tried my own domain account which is a member of the ora_dba group, same error.

I thought using the GUI tool to just perform some simple backups would be the best option.

Can anyone give me a clue as to how to get this to work?

Thanks, John

You may need to set up "prefered credentials" not only for database but for the server also. [3eyes]
