Hello,

I'm using MS windows server 2003, and have a problem with my DNS server, that only seems specific to one website.

My pc, has a DNS entry, which points to a local DNS server. This then points to a DNS server on the web. With this setup, i cannot get to the website.

I've checked the external DNS entries. I did this by adding them to my local pc. I can now get on the website. What i'm doing is going straight to the external DNS server, by-passing the LAN dns server.

Any ideas why i cannot get to my website, via my local DNS server?

Make sure you add your ISP's DNS servers as Forwards on your local DNS server.

If you still have a problem go into a command prompt on the DNS server and type ipconfig /flushdns.

Your DNS server should point to itself for DNS in the TCP/IP settings, and, like joepc said, it should be configured with Forwarders. That's where you put your outside DNS server addresses. Get properties on the servername in the DNS Manager and look at the Forwarding tab.
