Ok...this is the problem...I have Microsoft Word 2000 and also Acrobat Writer 5.0 installed. As you know when you open Microsoft Word on the toolbar itself you can customize it.

This is the problem. No matter what I try I cannot Remove the Acrobat Icon from the Microsoft Word Toolbar. I have tried just about everything. I have went into Microsoft Word / Tools / Customize and unchecked it and even went as far as Deleted the PDF Writer in Customize and closed it and saved it and then when I re-open Word the PDF small Icon is still there sittin on my ToolBar....I want to remove the PDF Icon in my MSWord Toolbar permanently. Any ideas are will be appreciated.

Thanks

I have Adobe Acrobat 6 and Word XP/2002. I can right-click the tool bar and uncheck PDFMaker 6.0 to keep it from showing.

Open your Normal.dot template
[In Windows 2000, it is located in C:\Documents and Settings\[MyUserName]\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\]
Click Tools-Customize
Drag the PDF icon off the toolbar

Hi estradahe,

I think Acrobat may add the toolbar and/or the button back if it's not there at startup. if Blujacket's solution doesn't work you'll need to check out any code which auto runs.

Enjoy,
Tony

I have tried both BluJackets and dcompto solutions and still a no go....How and where do i check for and Code Auto Runs?

Thanks Guys !!

Ok...I finally figured it out...No matter what I tried I could not get the PDF Writer Icons to remove permanently from the MSWord Menu.

SOLUTION:

If all Fails and you cannot remove the PDF Writer or PDF Maker Icons permanently from your MSWord Menu simply do a search on ( Depending on what version of Adobe Acrobat you have ) either on Pdfmaker.dot or Pdfwriter.dot on your local C Drive and delete them.

Please note that once you delete these files the only way that you will be able to add it back as an Add-In in MSWord is to re-install the Acrobat version.

Thanks,
