We have two Linux servers on our network. We can ping Server1 from Server2, but we cannot ping Server2 from Server1. Both have internal ip addresses in the 10.129.X.X range with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
I remember reading somewhere, that a vendor had a problem with their ping program, but I cannot remember where I read it, or who the vendor was.
Server1 is a RedHat 6.2 server. I am not sure of the version on Server2 since it is supplied by an outside vendor and I do not have access to the OS.
Additionally, when pinging other network devices from Server1 I will have a response time of 4356.7 ms or higher. Then the times will slowly drop until they return to the 1.9 ms range. Pinging the same network devices from other workstations, etc. will result in a 1.9 ms range repsonse time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay
