Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 running on Win2K Server.

I'm backing up a Red Hat Linux 7.2 server and get this error on about 5 files each night...

Unable to open the item SERVERNAME/root\/path/to/file - skipped

The rest of the backup is okay. Why are these files being skipped? Are they open files that you need the open file agent to back up?

Thanks,
Chris

Does the open file agent work on Linux systems, or only Windows? I'm assuming that the problem is that these files are open during the backup.

Chris

yep would say the files are open during backup - but files are really never open per say on *nix systems.
There is no open file option on linux - as per my statement above it is not needed.
What are the actual file names not being backed up?

They aren't system files, they are files that are part of a custom application. Some of them are log files, there is a lock file (I know we dont' need this), something called bkstprocess and another one called multiserver.pwd. The only important ones are the log files. I guess if worse comes to worse I'll write a simple cron job that will copy the files to a different location each night and back that up instead. I'd just like to know what the problem is with backing these up.
