Ok Tek Tippers i really need your assistance and badly.
I have never installed ISA Server before so a lot of this is new to me and im really stuck because it wont install.
Im running a server with the following.
Win 2k SP4
Dual Processor
1GB ram plenty of hard drive space.

Software installed is...
Symantec Antivirus V10
Office 2000
Back up software
Education prog called Exams On Demand

I have the following windows componants installed
IIS
index servicing
management and monitoring
other network and file print services
script debuger

DHCP is enabled and so is DNS.

Problem is I run the install for ISA 2004 and it installs the core componants however it will not installany additional componants.
I have turned symantec off incase it was that, still nothing.

As a temp measure i installed server 2000 on to a dell desktop and updated it with all the service packs. I installed isa on that without issues.

Why cant i install it on my server??

Any help would be really useful.

Craig

When you say other network and file print services is installed...why? Typically there's nothing under there that you need unless you're connecting to a Unix system. That shouldn't stop it, but it may throw some settings off.

You should actually uninstall the Antivirus, Install ISA, then reinstall the antivirus. Also, make sure it's not installing it's firewall service with it. That will block ISA server.

Here's a few things to check on. They may or may not have an effect.

Do you have any other NAT server running?
What speed processor are you using?
Set up your network cards with hard coded IP addresses instead of DHCP.

Tried removing antivirus, no joy, removed net support, no joy.
The server has a static ip address but only one nic.
There are no other nat servers running on the network, just this one.
Processors are p4 800s if i remember rightly and its dual processor.

The server is more than adaquate to run ISA but it will just not install.

Thanks for your input though.

>>> but only one nic

ISA is meant to act as a router between 2 nics. I wonder if it notices you only have one nic and is just installing the management features? Try installing a second nic and see if that helps. If you don't have a second nic laying around you can install the Microsoft Loop back adapeter.

Thanks macleod1021, i tried to install a second nic but its made no differance. I still can not install isa on my server.

For some unknown reason it will not install on my server.

Thanks for the info though.

yeahhhh Finally i have acheived my goal. Its working.
Unfortunatly not on the original server but on an additional one. Not complaining though as its working and thats all that matters.

Thanks for everyones input.

I'm still curious as to why it never installed on the first machine. If you figure it out, let us know.
