When ever I run the setup for a HSF modem the program simply doesn't run, it just sits in the back ground and does nothing. No errors nuthin. :-( My question is also under modems as USR 263091-OEM won't install. I've tried two of those and another conexant OEM and all have the same problem. Is there and known issues XP has with HSF modems that might cause this?

Either do a google search for hsf modem Winxp issues and look thru the results or go to the conexant website. Look thru their faq and download the latest driver for XP.

while I am glad you responded unfortunately I had serched unsuccessfully for that information already. Open to suggestions anyone.. even ones that seem obvious.

Have you read the directions closely? Some modems you install the software BEFORE the card is inserted. Others you put the card in, and then the software. Also, are these modems designed for XP? Remember, the old modems/drivers were designed to use parts of DOS. XP doesn't use the old style DOS.

hmm can't say I've ever run into a modem that was driver first hardware second. however I've tried several different modems in the same system, each with the latest driver available, and some of the modems are brand new. I had no problems getting XP drivers for the modems too, which would suggest that the manufacturers has at least tested them with it.
