I have a Sony DCR-PC3 videocamera that is connected to my computer via firewire. I am able to capture video from the Sony with no frame drops or any problems whatsoever. I am, however, unable to take a finished clip and put it onto a timecode striped tape in the DCR-PC3.
As soon as I click OK from the Export To Tape Settings dialog, the screen goes black and the audio from the clip plays back (on the computer) without any visual. The LED screen on the Sony also only shows a blue screen. When I stop the recording and preview what was put onto tape, nothing is there. Even the audio that was playing back from the computer is not on the DV tape.
Device control appears to work fine. The "Activate Recording Deck" option apears to work in that it will seek and start the recording process. The Sony LED screen does show the recording icon, proper timecode & DV IN. It doesn't show the video project, however.
I have followed the instructions in the Premiere help as well. The only diff that I can see is that I am exporting a clip to videotape and not a project.
I am using Premiere 6.5, the editing mode is DV playback and my playback settings are:
Playback on DV Camcorder/VCR
Playback on Desktop
Render scrub output to DV Camcorder/VCR
Play audio on Desktop while scrubbing
BTW: The manual for the camera states that the firewire jack works for input as well as output. I've also tried changing the device control in Premiere from Sony/Standard to Sony/DCR-PC1, Sony/DCR-PC5, Generic/Standard & Generic/Alternate 1 and get the same results everytime.
Thanks!
