unable to do file search on network drives

major problem here and I can't figure it out. hopefully someone has the solution.

I am unable to search for files on mapped networked drives ? the following is all I get

" Search is complete, there are no results to display "

anyone have the solution ? Thanks in advance.

Just tried this with excellent results.

Can you bring up the shared drive? View its contents?

If so try a search for something that you are certian exists on this drive if you haven't already.

This function should excecute properly.

If you still have no joy, post back with a bit more detail i.e. network OS/ver client OS/ver, connection topology, permissions set on net drive share etc.

here goes rvnguy ... tried searching for a known file on the shared network drive with no joy.

network os is w2k, client is xp sp2, ethernet connection, I have full permissions on the shared network drive ..

just for the sake of it, I am able to search successfully for files on my local harddrive ... prior to upgrading to XP SP2 I had no problems searching for files on the same shared network drive ...

Thank You for the detail and the fact that it used to work...Good to know that you have SP2 installed. I think I recall some problems with SP2 and the GPO's on the servers. This might be the problem you are experiencing. This is really a network related problem.
