Hi,

I ran dcpromo on a new server that I bought last friday to bring it up as a secondary DC for one of my domains. Ever since I did this, I've run into all kinds of problems, mostly due to policies and accounts not propagating as they should. I really don't have the time to chase down all of these errors right now, so I said to heck with it and tried to demote that server back to its lowly member state once again. Problem is, it didn't want to go! I got an error that alluded to the fact that it couldn't update the DNS, therefore, it couldn't demote itself. I don't host the DNS records for any of these domains on any of my machines, but I checked before and there weren't any apparent problems. I also tried to manually demote that machine, but to no avail.

Has anyone else run into this and do you have any suggestions, short of rebuilding the machine?

Thanks!

Guy
