Unable to connect to the registry on OLAP server X

when trying to connect to my olap server with Analysis Manager i get the following error message:-

, or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this server.

I've looked at my user profile and i am a member of the OLAP Administrators group, is there anything else i should be checking ?

Are you login into the same domain? AS doesn't handle cross domain security very elegantly. If the repository is in access format it could be the RemoteRepositoryConnectionString is messed up. You used to be able edit this key manually but since it contained connection info the string is now in binary and can't be edited manually as is.

You need to install the Analysis Server service packs, downloadable from the Microsoft site as separate files...I had the same problem on XP Home until I installed the packs...
