Hi All,

I am having a problem connecting to port 25 on a telnet session for smtp mail. I can connect ok however I just get a flashing cursor and when I press a key it disconnects me instantly. I have checked both internal and external cards on the server and its the same for both. I dont think its a firewall issue with the router. Any help would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks Paul.....

Are you attempting from inside your environment or outside? You need to test from the inside to rule out a firewall issue.

Is the server locked down to only accept email from certain IP addresses?

HI,

I have tried both inside and outside both have same effect.

Thanks Paul

I believe some ISPs block or filter port 25 to reduce spam. We had to request that port 25 not be filtered on our DSL account.
It would be helpful to know if this only recently started happening or has it always been this way? What has changed?

If they can't get to internally, it's not an ISP port blocking issue.

What's in the event logs?
