Hi,

When I enter this command: smbpasswd
and after entering the password, I get this error:
Error connecting to 127.0.0.1 (Connection refused)
unable to connect to SMB server on machine 127.0.0.1. Error was: SUCCESS - 0.
Failed to change password for ichris

If I login in as root, it works fine.
My smb.conf does not restrict any remote host access.

Thanks

I'm doing this from memory, try adding the line

hosts allow = 127.0.0.1/255.0.0.0

Under the global parameters in smb.conf, please make a copy of smb.conf somewhere first in case this causes problems later. If this doesn't do it, post your smb.conf file. If this doesn't work, post the global parameters section and I'll research it.

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
