hello all
i have a P3500 128MB viper v770 agp ultra Graphic card.
i am using profiles and i have a probelm in one profile that i cant change the settings (resulotion or color depth) in it.
strangely i can do that in the other profiles and when i do that the chagned settings reflect on the curpt profile. but again it is stuck in the setting.
i have reloaded the drivers and botted into safe mode and plaeyd with the monitor settings and did everything the MS knowledge base suggested but nothing helped.
i know i should try to remove the profiles but i would rather not do so.
since ia will have to reinstall evertyhing.
if any one can bring some new ideas i will be ever so gratefull
thanks
daniel

you dont have to reinstall everything if you remove the faulty profile. just make a copy of the desktop and startmenu folder in that profile and afterwards you can copy it back. delte the profile in the control panel and make sure that the folder has been deleted from windows/profile/... then reboot and remake the profile. andreas owen

Hello andreas57,
well i ahve tried this but when i copy the data from the bad profile the same thing hanpps in the new profile
i know i dont have to reinstall everything but i do have to rearabge all the settings and all my coockis are lost and there is lots of work.
i allready did this and slowly i start to rebuild my new profile. but i still would very much like to know what has happnd and how to fix the problem. it happnd to me once before and back then i was not using profiles and i had no other chioch then reinstalling window into a new folder and reinstalling ll my software:). i just want to know what the problem is

Enter the culprit profile, and in device manager, remove any monitors, specify "monitor is PnP" in the tick box, then restart. The video card should then install a monitor (default is usually OK), and (providing the video card is installed right), should then allow you to change settings. Cheers,
Jim
