I am trying to back up my Exchange Server with NetWorker 6.1.1 on NT 4, SP6a. The Exchange Server is 5.5, SP4 running on NT 4, SP6a. I installed the Exchange module on the NetWorker server, and when I was unsuccessful with backing up the Exchange Server, I tried installing the module on the Exchange Server (NetWorker client) as well.

I set up two clients for this client (the Exchange Server), one with all the drives listed in the Save Set field and the other with MSEXCH:IS and MSEXCH:DS listed in the Save Set field. I put these two clients in a group. When I started the group, the client with the drives listed ran without error. The client with MSEXCH:IS and MSEXCH:DS listed, however, was unsuccessful. The details field had entries such as

<client>:MSEXCH:IS save using 'MSEXCH:IS\' for 'MSEXCH:IS'
<client>:save cannot start MSEXCH:IS\: No such file or directory

There were similar entries for MSEXCH:DS. It seems to be interpreting MSEXCH:IS and MSEXCH:DS as folders that I want to back up rather than Exchange stores.

What do I need to do in order to back up my Exchange resources? The Legato documentation is less than complete on using the Exchange module.

Thank you very much for your help with this.

Make sure you have nsrxchsv.exe in the backup command field for the client backing up DS and IS. Without that command, Legato will treat that save set as if it were a specific file/drive/folder instead of Exchange databases. If you've done that, make sure your reverse lookup is working. You may have to edit the host file on each machine.

Thanks! That was the thing that I was overlooking. I was able to back up my IS and DS.

Thank you very much for your help.
