ufsdump write error

hi, we've been using the following command for the last 12 months to backup a file system overnight:-

/usr/sbin/ufsdump 0cnuf devnew:/dev/rmt/0n /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s6

last week we started getting the following error messages though the data still appears to be backing up OK (test restore was successful). Does this point to a hardware problem with the tapedrive? Any ideas welcome, cheers.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!
 
I notice you are using the "u" option to update the /etc/dumpdates file. Perhaps it's having trouble writing to that file?

Just tried it without the u option and got the same result.
