with UAC turned off. minus the Windows Defender not actively working in IE7 what is the downside?
If you run a with good knowledge of security and know how to keep a clean finetuned good running system why use UAC?
UAC disabled makes a fast sysem even faster

never have a boring question when you can have a debate....LOL

LOL Windows Secrets is the one email I subscribe too.
Transfered over when Fred Langa moved everyone on his list.
lots and lots of info and yes I have read that article when it came out.

I thought UAC was a hassle too a first look but after all the readings and articles it has definitely won me over.

I'm going to assume thet you're like in the sense that at home your account is an admin account and that is where you install apps, browse the web, open and read documents and do every other daily task.

I have found that once your initial setup of vista is completely done UAC is not going to get in your way to much unless your doing hardcoe troubleshooting or hardcore developing and testing on your computer.

If your a security buff and know your stuff then i see no reason why you would turn UAC off and if your not a security buff and aren't sure about how most of worms and rootkits need admin rights to do damage then you definitely don't need to turn UAC off.

Anything that makes malware ask me (at least for now) if i want to allow it to work is ok in my book.
