I have a customer that is moving a deparment down the street from there head office about 4 blocks. Is there a easy way to have there nortel 128 tie into a cics over the internet ?
You guys must be newbies. Nortel 128 is also called a 8 x 24 its the generation of ksu before the mics and bcm. This ksu has dr 5 software and the cics has 7.0. Maybe I should ask the question in another manner. Is it possible to make the nortel dr5 have remote sets at another location and be able transfer calls to those sets.
The basic Norstar 8x24 KSU expands easily by simple self contained add-on trunk and station modules.
Any combination of six modules can be added to the KSU to a combined maximum of 128 total ports.
An expansion card is required to add modules to the 8x24 KSU. Expansion cards come in either 2 module expansion or 6 module expansion. This expansion card plugs directly into the KSU. The trunk and station modules then connect to the expansion card with a single plug in cable.
Station Module 0x16 provides for the addition of 16 station ports. The Trunk module 12x0 provides for a maximum of 12 trunk ports. The trunk module by itself does not provide trunk access. Trunk cards 4x0 go into the trunk module (maximum 3 trunk cards) per trunk module.
good luck with tying the 8X24 and cics together
i mean networking them together
clidpri,
I read your prior post before you deleated it,thats why the term newbie applied.I have had over 20 plus years in the business working on option 81s to to norstar 3x8s so i can assure you that I am new newbie. You must have gotten in the industry in the last few years.Any ways your new post describes what a 128 is.Anyways the goal here is to have a remote site and either have a cics networked with the 8x24 or simply have sets that act like they are on the 8x24 without the cics.I have heard that citel may make a device that can work using the internet to tie the sets to the ksu.I asking if anyone has done such a set up and if it can work properly or do I need to upgrade the client to a mics.
Sorry, hnm1. I've only been in telephony since I got out of the army in '95. 8x24's were called 8x24's then. Clidpri knows his stuff, too, but we'll bow to your superior experience.
I do know the Nortel gateways work well on the MICS, but I can't guarantee they will on the 824, though I don't see why they wouldn't.
Alternatively, you could use Norstar ATA's and Trunk ports to acheive a voip opx. (But I assume you know that, being so experienced.)
Excuse me if I sound a little irked, but I've never been a fan of name calling, especially on professional forums. It demeans us all.
