Being a network person as opposed to an NT guru I need help.
A colleague has an NT domain controller on two ethernet networks. Each network is a different IP subnet and are connected by a Cisco 4500 router (IOS 12.0). We need to set up a two way trust between these servers but for some reason the router prevents the trust from forming. If I move the PDC's so they are on the same segment the trust can be established. Any ideas.

Thanks

If the trust is going over the wire in NETBEUI it will not be routed (NETBEUI is not a routable protocol)

or

Are you using filters between the two subnet on the router? If so, add in a ALLOW ANY ANY. There is an explicit "deny all" at the bottom of the filter list and if the trust requests are falling to the bottom of the list they will be denied. New Zealand, a great place to visit.

Thanks

I understand that Netbuei and net bios are not routable. My understanding from our NT support people is that the servers are using NBT (Netbios over TCP. My assumption is that the TCP packets are routable. There are access lists on the routers but this is not the problem as the two servers can ping each other.

It has been suggested that I need to enable UDP broadcast forwarding by configuring a helper address.

Any thoughts on this

Thanks Again

We have EIGRP enabled on the router and static routes. I dont think this is the issue. We also have simple IP access lists. again I dont think this is the issue as we have IP connectivity between the boxes. Also we have tried disabling the access lists and it still doesn't work.

P/S I agree, I think NZ would be a great place to visit. Any jobs going??? :)

Cheers
