two questions

Currently all of our remote cabinets are linked by fiber but I am wondering if there are any options to connect remote cabinets over ethernet (all of the existing fiber is used by data) so I am wondering if I can create a new subnet and vlan for the phone equipment. And my other question is what are the data ports ons the cards used for?

FYI by ehternet I mean ethernet and cat 5.

For Opt11c or NNCS1000M Cabinet there is the chance to connect it via 100BT or 100BF (copper or fiber).

That was introduced with the SIPE technique.

So, yes its possible.

concerning the 2nd question, what data ports on what cards?

the data ports or almost useless, i use them for phantom phones, at one time i used them as a data switch. with phones that had am rj21 to connect dumb term's back to a serial server. i don't know if nortel even sells that phone any more. the remotes can be turned into ip remotes and work over your cat 5 backbone.

The data port TNs correspond to the voice TNs on each card. For example, the card in slot 5 may have a phone on TN 5-0-0-0; its data TN is 5-0-0-16 (first 16 units, second 16 units). Commonly for add-on adapters such as ATA, MCA, or CTIA that connect to the phone phone (like a modem line or other data comm app).
