Hi, - I have ONE hard drive 80gb. - I have partitioned 55Gb of it and this is C drive with XP Pro on it along with my programs. - Partition E has all my data.
I need to reformat cos a lot of stuff is screwed up. - My question is - If I reformat "C" drive/partition do I lose the data from "E" partition. - If i do, then what s the answer. There is far to much stuff on "E" to even think about burning to CD's
PS - Used partition magic to do the partitioning.

Regards, - Mel

Setup will not be interested in E: as it will be directed (by you) to be using only C: drive. E: will remained untouched, just be aware that the access permissions may need checking after a clean install.

Probably this is all you need.

AS linney says E will be untouched, that is the whole point of partitions. to keep them separate. formatting C: will do nothing to E. unless specified.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Thanks Linney/vacunita - - Going to give it a go in the morning. - I thought E partition would be untouched but recall in my early days of computing, I had a dual boot system and reformated C drive and lost everything of both.

Thanks again - Mel
