I too hav had issues with my Linksys BEFSX41 just going up and down - restarting. Funny thing is when the SX41 is the Gateway ( accepting input from the cable modem ) is cold starts by itself, yet when it acts as a router it is fine.
I chose the BEFSX41 because of the verbose logging and SNMP v2 information I can gather.

So in surreptitiously having an internal LAN connected all the time to the cable modem, I want to be able to monitor traffic and block it at the firewall. So this is what I have done.

I have taken an old BEFSR41 and placed that as the Gateway, then placed the SX41 connected as an uplink router to the Gateway. All PCs are now ethernet connected to the second router.

The Gateway has a 192.168.1.1 address. Router 2 has an IP of 192.168.1.2.

How can I direct all traffic that originates from outside the network to go from the gateway--->router---->PC but also make sure that all traffic inbound to 192.168.1.2(Router 2 ) is logged?

Right now I am not getting any logging......and wish I had it.
Anyone have any ideas or done this kind of setup?

Thanks

J
