Turning on computer remotely - how to??

I want to know how i can turn on a computer from a remote location. I heard that you could do it using a phone? If you could tell me what kind of hardware or software i need and where i could get it and how much it would cost would be greatly appreciated.

Most BIOS have 'wake up on ring/LAN' option. Your mobo manual should have some details about this.

Or you can use an external modem with a fax program such
that when a call comes in from the line, the machine can wake
up. Simple, but may be a bit slow.
