I would like to turn of the annoying email indicator that pops up in your tray in MS Outlook 2000. How do I go about this? Tx

Click on Tools - > Options > E-Mail Options.
Third tick from the top says : "Display a notification message when new mails arrive"
I'm using office Xp but it should be on the same page on 2000.

There is another setting that you have to take off.
One the Email Options screen, click on Advanced E-mail Options and then take of the tick that says "Show an envelope icon in the system tray
